try classical

a repost from my other blog

Some students find it difficult to maintain focus in studying their lessons. Unfortunately, I am one of those students. My main problem is that, after reading 3-5 pages of notes, I get sleepy almost immediately. I have solicited a couple of suggestions but none of them worked for me.

I have also tried drinking coffee to keep me awake but all it does make me jumpy and shaky--which makes it harder to concentrate even more. What's worse is that it usually takes more than 12 hours, in my case, for the effects to wear off. Students should not drink coffee when they are studying, at least that's my opinion.

My recommendation instead is listening to music--classical music. It worked wonders for me and it do the same for you too, I hope. Haha! Although I have not found a scientific study to explain this technique of studying, researches have enumerated other benefits derived from listening to pieces like Bach, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and Mozart.

In a supermarket in UK, reports of troublemakers and graffiti have substantially dropped after playing classical music in front of the store.

One hospital study even found that heart patients received the same anti-anxiety benefits from listening to 30 minutes of classical music as they did from taking the drug Valium.

Some surgeons also report that classical music makes for a relaxed, efficient operating room.

So far everything has been good. I've been doing this for about a week now and I can attest that the rate of lesson absorption really has increased. I would recommend this if you want to study effectively.

WTF!? The Ateneo Blue Eagles lost Game 2--by 20 points! Ouch! What's more painful here is that won't be able to watch Game 3 live on Thursday--unless I am willing to miss a major quiz in Accounting. Well, I'm still thinking about it. Haha!

The Eagles' lack-luster performance was highlighted by Salamat's four points and Monfort's unsportsmanlike foul. The squad from Loyola shot below 40% in the field which converted into a total of 68 points.

I also noticed that most of their three-point attempts were a little bit off the mark. Rabeh was heavily guarded as the defense quickly collapses on him even before receives the ball. Everything was going sour for Ateneo while UE converted almost all of its possession on the other end.

Bench scoring was also a huge factor in the Ateneo loss. Hustle players like Tagarda and Duran from the bench gave UE the extension they needed in this series. Paul Lee waxed hot early in the game which allowed him to score almost at will in the game.

Overall, the Ateneo defense was very weak as they allowed UE to score 88 points. They should come back heavily on Game 3. They better not let me down! Haha!

another back to back feat?

a repost from my other blog

A few more hours to go and we will see. Can Jai, Rabeh and the rest of the Blue Eagles take home another crown? Should they win Game 2 of their finals series versus the University of the East later this afternoon, this will be the second back to back championship title for the Ateneo de Manila University. The first one was courtesy of the 1987-1988 team which was, coincidentally, spearheaded by Danny Francisco and Chot Reyes(Jai's uncle).

Meanwhile, in the juniors' division, the Ateneo Blue Eaglets is also aiming for a back to back title against the De La Salle University. It would be suweeet if both the juniors and seniors bag this season's UAAP Basketball crown!

The game will be telecast live at 3:30pm on Studio 23.

distracted

a repost from my other blog

Examination week is only a week and a half away. It's a bit alarming on my part since I haven't started reviewing for any of my subjects this semester. Among the eight, I think my Financial Accounting needs the most attention. I have been kinda slacking off this past few days. I admit I've faced some distractions and have shamefully given in to them easily.

What kept me distracted the most was my table tennis practices during Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We usually finish up at around 9 o'clock in the evening and it reeaallyy is tiring--especially when I have to be at school at 7:00am for the next day. This has been the primary reason for the sudden dip in my grades.

Clearly I have not managed my time well. Even most of my free time is spent playing DOTA. Haha! I'm hooked into playing this game even if most of the time it's just versus computers. I think I need to uninstall my Warcraft this week and just reinstall it after the exams week. Haha!

On weekends, I rarely get to study since it's basketball season once again. I'm an avid fan of the UAAP basketball and I always watch games on Saturdays and Sundays. Just today I intentionally skipped classes just to watch game one of the ADMU-UE series. Haha! Although my team won by seven, moving an inch closer to the championship crown, I still can't celebrate much because I still have a major quiz(for tomorrow) to worry about.

Lastly, just this morning, I had a bit of a misunderstanding with a friend. What really kept me wondering is that, personally, I have not done anything in my knowledge to upset her. I really don't know what's going on and why she's mad at me. Maybe she's just having a bad day but should that be a excuse for her to snap at me like that? I tried talking to her about it and she shooed me away. Well at least I tried. I really don't get her anymore. I just wish she'd tell me so that we can get rid of this tension between us.

I think I've said enough. I just need to get this load off my chest so I can get back to studying. Wish me luck. Hehe. . .

wasting time

a repost from my other blog

Tsk...tsk...tsk... I could have made good use of my time. We've had no class this whole afternoon so instead of doing my assignments and stuff I spent almost all of my time daydreaming. After half-sleeping for about a couple of hours in the library, I went straight home only to continue musing again. Watta bummer. I hate it when I procrastinate. I have accomplished nothing today. I just hope I'd snap out of this laziness ASAP!

pseudo-introductory post

a repost from my other blog

For the nth time I am back to blogging. I've had like a dozen blogspots already yet here I am again wasting a couple of megabytes in Google's servers. Haha!

Why? Self-expression--at least that's what I am trying to attempt here. The meek efforts I've made in the past were obviously a phail. You see the problem with me is that I often hold back most of my thoughts, feelings, violent reactions, blah...blah...blah you get the point. Most people only see my boringly dull exterior--although that would be an understatement. There's more to me than all of that, I think. Haha! Having said that, I hope this blog would serve as an avenue for people get to see the wacky, uncensored, and less sensible side of me. That's all.
